La Boca, Recoleta y Tango

 On Tuesday, we began the day by learning the differences between Colegio del Salvador and BC High and also went over how the progression at Colegio works and what happens after graduation here. Then, we took a bus to the neighborhood of La Boca. We learned a bit of the history of the area and why the buildings were so colorful.


We bought souvenirs and then ate at an Italian restaurant that had live Tango dancers. Later that day, we had a Merienda with all the host brothers and the students from Georgetown Prep. We ended off the night by playing soccer and other games. 




On Wednesday, we then toured parts of the school and saw the pool and auditorium. After eating a snack, we were off to the cemetery. However, after a mix up we ended up not being able to go to the cemetery and went to a nearby church instead. 



Afterwards, we walked to The Museum of Bellas Artes and before arriving we saw the UBA Law School and learned some of the history/superstitions about it. The museum had plenty of paintings and sculptures and after finishing there we went back to the school to eat lunch. Later that night, we had tango class at the school which was extremely fun.

  Saturday 6/9- Monday 6/12                                  Max Achab On Friday, we began our journey to Argentina, at Logan Airport. We boarded our 10 am flight to Miami, and the adventure began.  After our 6 hours layover in Miami, it was time to board our flight to Buenos Aires, Argentina.  An 8 hours flight was ahead of us, and then we would be in BA! After 8 long hours of on-and-off sleep, we arrived in Argentina! We met with our host brothers at the airport and boarded a bus to Colegio del Salvador. We then went home with our host families, and we did activities with them for the weekend. On Sunday, we all met at Iñaki’s grandmother's house in the countryside, for an Asado, with 95 people. We all played games on the field, and overall just had a great time. Classes and the River Stadium

 On Thursday, all of us went to out first ever classes at Colegio del Salvador. Being from America, the overall environment was quite different than classes in BC High. Here, the students don’t change classes like we do, but instead they stay in one class and different teachers come in. Also, it was weird to hear the teacher being called by their first names since I’m so used to using their last names. Later that day, we all went to visit the enormous River Stadium. We got a nice private tour and learned about all the  history of the stadium and the soccer team. Then we actually got to go inside of it, but it was a but nerve racking because at some points I thought I was gonna fall since there weren’t any railings to hold onto. Friday was a day that we all dressed up in out nice clothes and we started off the day with a pledge of the Argentinian flag.
